War funding that includes retroactive pay for stop-loss? It’s in a bill being considered by the House of Representatives. Remember the people of our military when compiling the military budget, members of Congress. Meanwhile, the supplemental assignments to war zones will continue — sending more sailors and airmen fill needed roles in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Our troops need more help with stress. Now. And so too do our military families: “It must be understood that military families face unique challenges compared to the average American family,” writes Rep. Susan Davis, the California Democrat who chairs the House Armed Services subcommittee on military personnel. “Fighting two wars has meant multiple and long-term deployments, and some service members have found themselves hop-scotching from one theater to another.”

With mother’s day coming, time to prepare honoring the very special moms out there: America’s military mothers.

Strategic shift, from Iraq to Afghanistan. Will more troops translate into more violence, or less? We’re already being pulled in two directions and that’s the future, too. Are our Pakistani allies defeating insurgent Taliban fighters or creating new waves of them in the latest episode of civil unrest in Pakistan?
